April Showers...

As I wrote this devo, I thought about how we’ve entered a new month: May! Of course I was excited because everyone knows that April showers bring May flowers, and I love flowers. But what else does May bring? Not necessarily the month itself, but the word “may.” Oftentimes, the word has to do with wishes; in the Bible, it is often associated with God’s hopes for humanity. I wanted to take a moment and reflect on the hopes that God has for you and me.
“MAY the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” - Romans 15:13
“I have told you this so that my joy MAY be in you and that your joy MAY be complete.” - John 15:11
“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you MAY be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” - James 5:16
“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins MAY be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he MAY send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you-even Jesus.” - Acts 3:19-20
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they MAY have life, and have it to the full.” - John 10:10
God wants us to have hope, joy, peace, forgiveness, healing, and life in abundance! His “mays” are reminders of the infinite yet intimate love He has for us—God doesn’t desire for us to suffer nor be along, he wants good things for each one of us. May you remember the promises and desires of the Lord, because He truly cares for you.
