To See and Be Seen

I’m going to be completely transparent with you: I haven’t been feeling alive in my faith. It’s not easy to admit—I’d rather give a devo about a time where I didn’t feel spiritually numb. But that wouldn’t be very true to this moment, would it.
The fragility of this world has become quite plain in the past couple of months. It’s been especially difficult because many of us (myself included) have lived lives of security and safety...this has been out of our comfort zones, to say the least. The fact that quarantine and wearing masks and frightening news are becoming more and more normal has fogged my vision.
With all this chaos, I can’t see God.
However, just because I haven’t seen him, doesn’t mean He isn’t working. In fact, now that I think about it, I can see many ways He’s been at work within these difficult months.
Fortunately for us, faith isn’t one of those “if I can’t see you, you can’t see me” sort of situations. Just because I can’t see God, doesn’t mean He can’t see me. In fact, He always sees me, always knows me. Psalm 33:18 proclaims: “Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love.”
Remember: not only are you seen by the God of the universe, but loved by Him too.
