Love: Part 11

Today I’m going to focus on the first chunk of verse 7: “always protects.” When I read this verse, it makes me think of God’s love as a shield.
Think of love as a football team. There’s offensive love, the love that seems to further the kingdom and takes back what the devil stole. Then, there’s defensive love. This is the one that protects its assets, in this analogy, that’s the people who’ve already come to Christ.
Oftentimes, as Christians, we focus on the love that goes out to the people who don’t know Christ. After all, that’s what we’re called to do. But God wants us to remember that love also protects, that He’s guarding us. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 tells us, “But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.”
On this beautiful Friday, I encourage you to remember a simple phrase: God’s got this. He‘s protecting you at this very moment. “The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank Him.” - Psalm 28:7.
