Sword of the Spirit

This past week, God blessed me with the opportunity to go to a summer camp called Kanakuk K-Seven. I learned a lot about the Lord and saw Him move in incredible ways. So, today I wanted to share a little nugget of what I learned.
“The Bible will meet you where you are, but it won’t let you stay there.” — Chad Hampsche
Let that sit for a moment. Wow. I don’t know about you, but that statement really convicted me. Lately, I’ve been stuck in a rut when it comes to my faith, and I went into camp with a numbed spirit.
I felt that my faith was stagnant, but what did that mean in regards to this quote? It meant that I wasn’t truly rooted in the Word; if I had been, I wouldn’t have been staying where I was. The Word of God is the truth by and through which we will grow.
There will always be dry seasons, but that doesn’t give us permission to let our faith go. In the dry seasons, we must fight even harder for our relationships with the Lord. We do this by equipping ourselves with the Word because it is our only weapon against the schemes of the Devil, according to Ephesians 6:17: “Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
Interestingly enough, “word” is found within “sword”—it’s no coincidence that the word is our sword. God gave us the tools to move and grow in faith, to fight back against the brokenness of this world. The real question is: are you going to charge forth with this powerful weapon?
