Finding Our Rescue

Written by Noelle Bergstrom

I've been thinking about this devo all day. I’ve been wondering what I should write about that will be truly impactful. And I’ve been in between some ideas, some verses, and songs to share, but I finally came to a consensus about what needs to be heard. One of my favorite worship songs is Rescue by Lauren Daigle; this song has gotten me through so much since it’s come out. This song talks about how God sees us, He hears us, He’s there for us, and we never have to do life alone. We don’t have to be quarantined in our house alone. This song also helped me know that my grandma is not going to go through Alzheimers alone. One of the lines in the song is  “I hear you whisper underneath your breath, I hear you have nothing left”; this line has always stuck out to me because even in the darkest times when I feel this way, He knows and He has plans for a rescue. Jesus is so powerful, He’s more powerful than coronavirus, and death. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11. He has us in his hands and we will be rescued.

Now that I have shared, I encourage you to take time out of your day and pray, in the prayer focus on adoration/acknowledge: give God praise for who He is and what He has done. Then, confession: tell God how you have fallen short, after give God thank yous for all He has done. Lastly, cry out to God on what you need rescue from. Think about how you can be vulnerable and fully committed in the presence of God.  When Lauren Daigle talks about this song, she was the most vulnerable with God. Take this song as your example and pray.

You guys will make it through the hard time, Gods got this, His is our rescue.
