Here, Now, and Forevermore

I was thinking about something crazy last night. Last year, if you had asked me what the word “corona” meant, I would’ve responded with “it’s a beer.” If you’d asked me this question within the past couple of months, here are the responses you might receive from me: “end of the world,” “apocalypse,” “virus,” “quarantine,” “constant state of fear.”
Isn’t it strange how quickly things can change? Words take on new meanings, situations escalate, relationships forge and deteriorate. We live in a world where nothing is constant.
How can we cling to hope in an ever-changing world? If we hope in anything of this world, our hope will change or be let down eventually. So, what do we do? Hebrews 13:8 reminds us that our God doesn’t change: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” His love doesn’t change and his forgiveness never leaves us. He is the one singular constant in this crazy world.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve found this super comforting within these past couple months. It seems that everything I once knew has been chucked out the window—everything but God. Dear friends, if we believe in the Lord, we have an unchanging and unfailing hope. Don’t forget that in these crazy times!
