What to do, what to do

My devo today is going to be incredibly simple: a list of good things that you can do
during quarantine to give life to people whom you love and bring life to yourself.
1. Text someone and tell them that you love them dearly.
2. Call someone you haven’t spoken to in a while.
3. Play a board game with family.
4. Ask your parents how they met.
5. Read a book of the Bible that you haven’t read before, or in a while.
6. Pray for someone. Either over the phone or without them knowing. Intercede on their
behalf.
7. Journal. Write down thoughts and feelings. Capture ideas and thoughts.
8. Read a book you loved when you were a kid. Magic Tree House? Anyone?
9. Cook a meal for your family.
10. Do something around the house that has to be done without being asked.
11. Tell your parents that you love them
12. Sit down and spend time with family
13. Go for a walk outside, be quiet, spend time in silence in nature.
14. Write a short story. If you don’t know what to write about, ask a friend for an opening
sentence, or a theme, or a word and just write what comes to mind. You don’t have to
write your own American classic, but writing opens up the mind.
15. Pray. Tell God what you’re afraid of, what you don’t know if you can handle, what is
grieving you. Pray for the fruits of the spirit.
16. Ask God to show you what he is doing in the midst of the crisis. Often we can lose sight
of the fact that God is still working miracles during hard times, but God loves to show
off, ask him and he will show you.
17. Seek the Heart of God, not so you may become a better person or a better Christian, but so
that you may know more intimately the God who loves you.
18. Cook a meal for your family.
19. Turn off your phone for a few hours, put it in a drawer, disconnect.
20. Call friends and ask them how they’re doing. A phone call can mean a ton to someone. It
shows that you care.
21. Start a project with a family member, paint with your mom, plan a trip with your sister,
do a puzzle with your dad, start a workout plan with your brother.
22. Find productive things to do. Being productive and accomplishing things is very good for
mental health. Make your bed, take a shower, walk the dogs, eat a healthy lunch, get
some homework done.
23. Reorganize your room or some other space in the house.
24. Look at photos from when you were young. Do it with your whole family
25. Let up the blinds, let some sunlight in when it is beautiful out, open up windows, let in
some fresh air to the house.
26. Drink water
27. Put on fresh clothes
28. Do laundry
29. Play with pets
30. Always remember that after every storm comes a rainbow.
All of these things can bring life, but you don’t have to do all of them. Pick and choose.
